Just before I made the trek out east, I was near Primrose Ontario for Urve and Lew's 50th wedding anniversary. I met Urve (photo on the right with her arm around her grandson) back in 2003 when I was part of an intersession in Rome. She and Nancy, a dear friend of hers and now mine, decided that they would audit the intersession. You might be inclined to think that having two ladies well into their 60's with us might hamper the party or at the least exclude them from the late night activities. On the contrary, they led the party as often as they followed and stayed out with us many nights, joined the sing along in the Garden and added an integral element that only wisdom and experience can provide.
the Internet allowed us to keep in touch as they made their way to Guelph and most of us back to New Brunswick. We kept in touch via email and in Korea they kept up with my sporadic blog/emails. In the summer of 2005 we all went to Jake and Shannon Stewart's wedding.
Lew with the Champaign
Our relationship really started to grow in the fall of 2005 when I started my Masters at the Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. Only 35 minutes form Guelph, we have managed to keep each other apprised of our lives and meet up for a lunch or a supper when time allows. I know this is a lengthy introduction but these ladies are just so special. They live life to the fullest, travel like they're 29 and most importantly experience the places they travel like they're 25.

When Urve asked me to photography her 50th anniversary I jumped at the opportunity. It's wonderful to be able to provide a nice memory of the day for her and her witty husband. The spread they put on, the live music they provided and the scenic country locale made for a fantastic afternoon. Congrats Urve and Lew on 50 years. You really are a special couple.
