The Real Reason...

I went to the Southern United States of America was to present at the International Security and Internal Safety Conference at the University Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. The Conference, titled the Silhouette of War allowed me to present a paper - The Personality of Memory. Here are a few of the photos from Mississippi. With Lee Windsor giving the key note lecture and my own paper, one of the professors commenting suggested we were building a Canadian Beachhead in Mississippi. Perhaps so, but it was a unique experience with international presenters from Portugal and South Korea.

The Mississippi State Flag - anyone notice the confederate part of this flag? The South will rise again!!
A photo of Colin! Great Times... Hopefully we can get him up here to Canada

Mardi Gras in Nawlins...

So with Colin and Marco, we had the chance to experience Mardi Gras in New Orleans (or Nawlins as the locals say it). It was quite an experience walking down Bourbon and St. Charles street, drinking a grenade, than a Hurricane, and then a few beers to finish the night off! It really is utter madness but fun madness for the most part! Here are a few of the images I caught with a friends smaller digital camera...preferring to keep mine at the hotel!

The Broken Beads on Bourbon Street

World Famous Bourbon Street! What a wild street and a great sunset!

One of the Many Balconies on Bourbon Street - It was not empty later that evening!

Where we go our Beer - nothing like store that sells liquor and gifts and Jambalaya

Mobile, Alabama

Just got back from the South...presented at a great conference in Hattiesburg Mississippi. I went primairly because Colin, a friend who I met on my trip to Sicily last year, was putting the conference on...I stayed on for a few days afterwards and we went to New Orleans during Mardi Gras and Mobile, Alabama...today I have a few pictures from our time aboard the USS Alabama, a battleship that spent time in the Pacific during the Second World War. The battleship housed about 1000 crew and fired shells as massive as the 2700 pounders...quite a ship...

Faceless Warriors

Took these photos a couple of years ago...I really like the shadows and hard lines we were able to get from these two faceless warriors...I really like using this dramatic lighting and duotone finish when it fits the image...here it does...

One Man's Journey - Niagara Falls

I have put together a series of 25 Landscape photos that will come out periodically over the next six months. The series, my first, titled One Man's Journey, will highlight some of the places I've traveled and some of the cities I've called home through the first 28 years of my life. Each Print is available if you're interested in purchasing a matted copy for your home...Some of them you have seen, other's you have not and will be making their debut online in the coming months.
